Do you want to pass an excel file down to the users of your web? - easy way: create a page (showExcel.asp) that changes the content-type to application/ms-excel (check to be sure I'm right on that) and render a table, client will be prompted to open/save.
Do you want to open it yourself and aren't given an option? - you need to change your file associations.
