Make sure the files have the same extension
TIP:
When ftping, before you upload the files, rename the files being replaced. ie
contact.asp -> contact.aspBU
That way if the new files don't function as expected, you can "reset" the site
by renaming the files. ie
contact.aspBU -> contact.asp
