Thanks to everyone who tried out the Release Candidates. AspectJ 1.8.0 is now out. It is already in maven central. The short readme is here:

There are no new AspectJ language constructs (yet) for exploiting Java8, for example there is no way to match/bind type annotations. Enjoy! AspectJ Team
