Err Possibly... I suspect it's type overloading that goes wrong. It works if the logical expression is first assigned to a bool, then the bool is used in the "if": if ((!check_if_valid || !c.mid_required()) { bool tmp; tmp = check(i, word_end, run_together_limit - 1, end_pos, words + 1); if (tempbool) { return true; } } I suspect a problem with a difference between type casting to bool and assigning a bool. This happens in several places.
