I did try that the first time out, and it didn't actually save the 
new words to the word list, for some reason.  I may have 
misconfigured the command to the pipe, though, so I should try this 
again.

Did you remember to send a '#' at the end?  This is necessary to save your
changes back to the file.  This tripped me up initially until I gave the
manual a second read-through.
