I've begun using the above two programs to write non-fiction but find spellchecking colloquial speech is nigh impossible e.g. any word that has a curtailed ending such as, "darlin', mornin', evenin'" and which is then selected for insersion in the Personal Dictionary, causes lyx to freeze. No error message appears.
This action, or rather, non-action was very annoying and it wasn't until I tried running lyx from the command line with, "run-with-aspell lyx" that the error message, "Invalid word "Darlin'": The character ''' may not appear at the end of a word", appeared in the console when attempting the same thing.
Putting an apostrophy at the end of a word in place of the dropped letter is the accepted convention to convey a person's form of speech and the error message is not correct.
Is there any way to tell aspell to accept the apostrophy?
Paco
