Open sql manager, click on tools, click on profiler, run a new trace on the
database (you can specify the ntuserid or other attributes to keep the noise
down). Now open your page and run the sequence and check the values actually
going to the database.
My guess is that they aren't what you think. This will give you a way to
figure out what's going on in most of these types of situations. As a
general rule figure your page isn't sending the values and it avoids a lot
of extra work.
In .net a common thing is to have your value reset by an event path back to
it's original value before the data transfer is made, so in this case
nothing or an empty string is being sent in spite of the fact that you typed
in the correct text.
