Hi Dear,
you can use concept of open http session, this depend on http protocol,
when you send request to the server , you open http session with IIS and IIS
use it to send back the page to you and when the page done, it close the
session,
this is where we come in, you will not end the page or the session so you
will keep the connection alive and keep sending any new chats you send it ,
this happen using Response.Write("....");
mainly you will design your page as frames and the main frame which will
have the chat it self will be the one who kept alive and who keep receiving
the chat.
other frames will be for control , like one frame for you to respond, other
for status, other for common command ( log out, private chat ,.... ) and
other frame will be for roster, and this will be tricky as it could be also
kept alive or you can make it refresh every x second to update the roster.
this depend on the analysis and design also the requirements you have.

i want to make the browser refresh or the control postback when one of
the chatters add new text in the current chatting session
so what all other chatters can see it
