The answer is that there is no easy answer for this.

You can use office automation for this, or use some components.

Problem being that the word doc format is a closed format.
If you have the chance you could go with the RTF format which is also a word
supported format which is in plain text which you can then easily make
templates of and use string replace functions on to manipulate the files
directly.

Hope this helps you in the right direction.

Subject: [AspNetAnyQuestionIsOk] Still Un-Answered - How to!! Editing a word
document in browser and saving it back on web server

Hi All,

Last week I had posted this query and today I am again reposting it because
there was no good solution for this.
My requirement is that a word document on the IIS web server should be
opened (e.g http://localhost/myASPNETApp/test.doc) in right hand side frame
of the client browser.
Once the document gets opened, the user will make changes in the document
and will click a buton on the left hand side frame in the client browser.
The click event for this button should save the changes made in the word
document to that on the IIS web server.

Waiting for a reply as soon as possible

Regards
Amogh
