I'm guessing you are using Query Analyzer. The actual XML is being
returned by SQL Server, but by default QueryAnalyzer only displays the
first 256 characters of a column.  RawXML gets returned in single
column, so the display is getting clipped, but in your application the
full XML string woould be available.

You can change the number of characters per column in Query Analyzer
by sleecting Options... from the tools menu and changing the value on
the Results tab.
