CM's usual position. Faced with something going against his positions, there is the usual outrage and incredulity against those. Somewhat overused tactic.
The Indian attempt to "ride on the coat tails: of the US military campaign has been largely successful. Musharraf has more or less clamped down on his terrorists. Bhutan has driven out others. Bangladesh is facing the music internationally. And Myanmar is conducting joint exercises with the Indian army. Even Dawood is worrying next about where to escape to instead of bombing Mumbai. Militant movements are writing to his Excellency, G.W. Bush to remove them from the terrorist list. Riding on those coat tails was the smartest foreign policy moves in India's independent history. One would be an idiot not to ride on those coat tails. Whether it was "free and shameless" or not, India's strategy has been very effective so far. The last person to lecture India on settling Kashmir as a response to the blasts in Mumbai was the EU Commissioner many years back. The guy was laughed at in most capitals - India refused him entry specifically mentioning he was not welcome. As CM has mentioned before, freedoms are relative. So are sins. In between the sins of India and the terrorist groups, the world has finally delivered their verdict - the terrorist groups working against India are the bigger sinners. They do that because they realize it is for their own good. USA needs a terrorist free India for many reasons, most of which relate to their self interest, including their fight against their own terrorists. > >>I realize that many an Indian attempt/ed to get a > free and shameless > >>ride on the coat-tails of the US military > campaigns ( typical > >>desi-trait of course) against terrorism, by > starting to call its own > >>political dissidents 'terrorists', hoping, > somehow, that the USA will > >>come deliver them from the sins of their own > making--in Kashmir, in > >>Nagaland, in Assam, in the central provinces and > so forth. > >> > >>But more could be expected from these netters. > >> > >>cm > >> > >> > >> > >>At 9:30 AM -0500 8/30/05, Dipankar Malla Baruah > (Well Logging wrote: > >>>A few ULFA workers were arrested by police in > connection with the > >>>recent bomb blast in Boko.
