Dilip-da,
Thank you for the support. I did say to the Visa officer in Delhi - I would go back to India - on my student visa status - but I can surely try to change my visa status -to an immigrnt on -esp. now that Indian govt allows one to vote in India as well in certain western countries. It is a global arena now --see Rajat Gupta of McKinsey -who came from India -is active in India -as well as in the whole world.
When Americans or Britishers go to other countries to live there - they still remain whatever they were . If Robert Clive (?) hadn't been to India and remained there for work - perhaps Britain would never have progressed.
However, it is a debatable issue - nonetheless my field is International Education -- have to focus on poverty and education -- India being the biggest issue .
Your comments are welome.

Hi,Eid Mubarak,I got a job of $100per day at Edison Charter School www.friendshipschools.org . To put it in perspective I have only $13 in my Bank of America accounts (there is another $124 in the pipeline though from Tax refunds checks deposited now) plus $200 in Travellers Cheques from India. They gave out no advt - I just was so terriffied about going broke (nearly did) that I applied to their promotional advt for a suitable position. I will be working 10 to 6,incl afternoon Math classes, improving SAT scores etc.The Principal would call me coming Tuesday to ask me to begin classes. I quoted the rock bottom "even $10 per hour is good enough for me" - he was more generous - I think Harvard degree impressed the staffers.I have reasoned that given the current visa problems - it is unlikely that any US based educational institution would give international applicants any permanent job inside US - so was told to me by some of our international seniors at Career Days as well as by On-Campus Recruiters at Career Fairs at HGSE .I have been applying to many international positions - though Afghanistan seems to be the most available posting -for which also I have applied. As some might recall that I am an avid blogger/netter - and since much before Sep11 I have been writing against Taliban (Afghanistan is just next door to India). It is very likely that terrorists keep tabs on internet writers as well. They have been routinely attacking media persons in India -who write against them. Going into the lion's den for any reason is quite risky. So I feel about Afghanistan.Eid's gift:South Asia's most revered Islamic site (Dargah Ajmer Sharief) is quite close to my hometown and people of all faiths go there to seek blessings of a holy man who stayed there 500 years ago. So is Bhopal's big mosque Taajul Masaajid - among the biggest in the world, where I stayed for an year. Having many muslim friends also I can relate to the festive mood of Eid. Hope we pray for peace.I got my Eid-i (gift on Eid) - my new job. How's it going?UmeshPS: I have got some experience of Math tutoring in US by tutoring a GRE student ( a Japanese girl) for Math - thru www.ltsprep.com a company founded by Harvard grads - the GRE program is designed by an HGSE grad who secured a perfect score in GRE -- 800 out of 800 in both verbal and quant and 6 out of 6 in Analytical Writing!! http://www.ltsprep.com/index.php?tab=3
