It is sad about Indian MPs but on my lone visit to Capitol Hill I was told by some professional lobbysts that the Congressmen take them seriously (and take up the issues raised at US Congress or Committee hearings) becos they arrange for the funding of their election campaigns. Ofcourse there is a limit of upto 5000 dollars - for an individual funding any candidate - but these guys assured me that their are [lenty of ways of going round it. Abramoff case is a recent example who took millions of dollars from Red Indians (Native Americans) while acting as their lobbyist -some he delivered some he ate up.

Job well done by the journalists. This is the kind of journalism that will bring change to the established system of graft in India. Any businessman in India you talk to, accept these practices as cost of doing business. The practice will change when the politicians (many no more than local dadas) realize that they are likely to be caught and thrown out.

But can you rely on the journalists to be the good guys? I heard in assam that a whole newspaper can be bought and turned against a certain party or a politician.
In this case I am sure Cobra Post is doing what journalists are suppoesed to do.
