I was thinking about the few months old row in communist hot-bed Kolkata when a 70 year old atheist poet found statues of Kali physically attractive and declared so in press interviews. some of us on the Net found it alright that he airs his opinions but others said that if all were allowed to air one's
fantasies then it will be a free for all.
I think we had agreed that freedom of speech should be limited to the extent it does not offend others.
It seems Europeans (thru their newspapers ) have opened floodgates across the world - regardless of religion - since they ridiculed all faiths - that they be ridiculed and harrassed when they ventured in other parts of the world. Why would they complain if their wives and daughters as tourists in other lands are greeted with obscene gestures etc. Don't they themselves promote the right of sef _expression_.
Maybe they would in times to come promote the right to rape and murder --as they used to for white men -in their colonies till World War ended .
At a historical level - it reminds me of the Roman civilization which collapsed --not thru foreign military invasions - but by lethargy and debauchery.
Nowadays Europeans are becoming famous for lowering their work hours and more time for fun and ridiculing one another.
Any comments?

My French roomate was very proud that France has a communist party - but upset that it is taking his country to the dogs - by strikes. Maybe Communist ideologues -same as in India -are behind this.
