Somebody should make up a balance sheet---what you get from the bum in return- what can you expect from him after all.

Oh Great India!

I wonder how with a meager salary of only Rs 12,000 per month (US$300) the MP can create expenses of Rs 32 lakh per year ($65,000) . How are they able to cook up expenses under other heads - phone calls, travel etc. to such a high amount - assuing that one person does all the traveling, staying at home and making the phone calls.

Lets calculate:

Rs 1,50, 000 per year=Salary @12,000 pm =

Rs 1,20,000 pa= Constitution expense @10,000 pm

Rs48,000 pa=Travel by road =

Rs5,00,000 pa=BETA @500 per day =  (assuming Parliament meets 100 days pa)

Rs 5,00,000 pa=Train fare  @ 5,000 per trip =  (assuming takes 100 trips per year -                         though unlikely)

Rs4,00,000 pa = Plane fare @10,000 per flight (assuming takes 40
flights pa)

Rs1,20,000 pa = Rent for Delhi stay (cost of maintenance of his/her Delhi bungalow)

Rs 1,00,000 pa = Electricty costs of MP's home @Rs2 per unit

Rs 1,70,000 pa = Phone call @Rs1 per call (as per new rates announced this week)

----------------------------------------------------------------

Rs 21,1000 per year/MP(US$40,000 pa)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Each head seems  reasonable to me -- where is the question of this money going into the MP's pocket here.
