No Objection at the Objectionable !

Dear Sir /  Madam,

At last, the decission has been made. Its nice to know that "Asom" has been given the rightful place instead of "Assam". As for me, when I read "Asom", I happen to find it closer to the native pronunciation compared to the highly Anglisized version "Assam".

I find the controversy behind this rectification very strange. Everyone knows that the accurate is not possible following certain constraints in the English language. Why doesn't some persons of the State accept the nearest and the closest "Asom" ?  I find it amusing to see the way the Asamese people degrade themselves by themselves. Very often in the Cinema Hall column of newspapers of Asom (including yours), I find the word "Ass" used to denote an Asomese / Asomiya film. Why can't the abbreviation "Asm" be used ? Why does no one raise an objection in this regard ?

                                                                                  Yours faithfully -----
                                                                                     Pragyan Singh,
                                                                                     Andheri (W),
                                                                                     Mumbai
