Guwahati, May 13: Tarun Gogoi was today unanimously elected as Congress Legislature Party leader in Assam. The decision was taken at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting in Guwahati on Saturday morning.
With chief ministerial contender and state Congress president Bhubaneswar Kalita losing the election along with other potential challengers, Gogoi faced virtually no competition.
The meeting also decided to give three ministerial berths to alliance partner Bodoland People's Progressive Front (Hagrama) in the new Congress-led coalition ministry in the
state.
Emerging as the single largest party with 53 seats in the 126-member house, the Congress is set to form the next government with ally, Hagrama faction of the Bodoland People's Progressive Front (BPPF).
