Hi,

Today I just returned from a friend's friend's house where that person said that she loves to cook crestechians (or something like that) - like crabs, lobster etc . I was curious having seen living ones crawling about in small glass tanks in departmental stores like Giants, Safeway etc.

She said that just put them in a pot of water and close the lid - and they die!!

I thought they could breathe under water - I said.

Oh! You have to boil the water to kill them!!

Holy Cow!! And some people thing that only Indians (Hindus) are inhuman for killing goats and stuff by relatively painless single axe blow on the neck -fro religious sacrfice and eating later.

Indian schools cannot dissect frongs or rats any longer ( I dissected rats in grade 12) and have to make do with plastci models. Due to animal activist's (western style) like Menaka Gandhi. However, in US they still do live frog dissection in college -as I saw on TV in Reality show "Tommy Lee goes to college" - where world famous rock star goes to college (Univ of Nebraska). Some might have seen his famous internet video - I saw soon after meeting my current landlord - on his laptop.

What is PETA doing - People for Ethical Treatment of  Animals http://www.peta.org/
Incidently today in the metro train I saw the posters of www.consumerfreedom.com blaming PETA of funding fundamentalists destroying AIDS research labs to stop animal cruelty.

Any comments by NRAs how PETA should take the lead in stopping cruelty to crabs, lobsters etc in USA ---which Menaka Gandhi in India can emulate?
