Rajen-da and Rajob-da,
Why go into history when we are discussing the present trend of conversions. Cannot the future be brighter than the past. Who is perfect anyway - though I agree with Rajib-da. Even now you would find many radical Hindus claiming that Christ is one of the Hindu saints - which is better than saying that he was humbug.

No the stories are not similar at all.
The scale of loot, plunder, death and destruction that
were associated with the spread of Christianity (for
example in the Americas) and the spread of Islam (e.g.
the 40000 skulls on the streets of Sind)have no
comparison of any kind associated with the spread of
either Hinduism or Buddhism not just within India but
outside.
Hindu temples became Buddhist temples and many later
became Hindu temples as well. Gently though.
But the way Hindu or Buddhist temples became mosques
has no parallel amongst these two faiths. For a peak
into it, please visit the Vishwanath Mandir in
Varanasi. Aurangzeb had razed it. Rani Ahilya Bai and
Maharaja Ranjit Singh restored it. A mosque juts out
half way through it even today. The barbarism is
evident even today in how they co-exist.
So let's not try being all intellectual and
politically correct about it.
