Does anyone have friends in Vancouver? I might have to go there for a month for my visa interview at US consulate (unless the immigration officials grant me "change of status" to H-1B visa even though my current status ends a month before Oct 1st -the date H-1B visas are generally valid from. As mentioned before - ot has been alowed to those who have graduated from US univs and are changing from student to work visa -- but only after the Immigration dept has issued a directive in this regard -which they generally to each year).

My friend and host at L.A. - Dr Kamal Kejriwal is right now himself in Vancouver with his family-for the weekend -before he attends a seminar in bioethics in Seattle. Tomorrow I go to see Universal Studios at Hollywood (courtsey Kamal).

Any help about Vancouver - I am seriosuly thinking about pictching a tent for a month -like at the recent camping trip near LA.

Thanks for the support as always. I think I might have managed to get the necessary info -since I have booked a bed in a dorm at Youth Hostel, Montreal, Canada and given their address as my mailing address in Canada.

I did get an address in Vancouver (on West coast) from a Harvard classmate and another two names in Toronto -one a classmate and roommate at Hindu Institute of Management, Sonipat and another a school senior at St Xavier's Jaipur (thru my LA friend Kamal). Then another near Calgary in Mid West Canada -thru Kamal.

The most interesting was the case of http://www.indiagrid.com/cgi-bin/viewpost.cgi?dmmy=ok&postid=63612&cat=cls
who agreed to let me use his contacts for my visa purposes if I agreed to send him a "certified check" of $600 incl rent for Sep 2006 -in advance. So much for Indian brotherhood?

Dear Fellow Netters,

I am in a bit of a quandry right now can you provide me a mailing address on the East coast of Canada (preferably).

I need that address fast (by tonight preferably)--preferably closer to East coast (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa or Quebec) --- else near Calgary (Midwest) and Vancouver (West coast) also have US consulates . My visa sponsor will be filing the application tomorrow.

As you know  I have applied for a US work visa (H-1B) and the immigration officials have asked me to provide an address in Canada -in the city where I would be appearing for the visa interview. So I first need to have a mailing address in Canada and in that city/region only I can appear for the visa interview - if successful they would send my stamped passport to that address.

FYI: I am currently in US only till August 28, 2006 on my current visa status (grace period). After that I have to leave the country till Oct 1st -and return if granted a work visa by then. So I might be staying in Canada till Oct 1st (if I get the approval to appear for visa interview -and subsequently do NOT get "change of status" before my time runs out on current visa's grace period ).

I know this might seem confusing but simply --right now can I have a mailing address in Canada (preferably closer to the East coast ) to send the info to US immigration officials regarding my visa application?

Hope everything is going fine? How are you doing?

Thanks and regards.
