Dear Barua,
With reference to your advice to young entrepreneurs on the topic of "Rainwater Harvesting System",
I want to add what I wrote in my letter dated 8-20-06 to you :
We must not give up
hope. Young engineers of Assam today can
invent & devise a "Rainwater Harvesting System" and save the excess water of
the rainy days for the dry spells. They must be careful not to store
water in overhead tanks exposed to sunlight which will cause growth of
algaes and ruin the system, like what happened in Hawaii islands at one
time. Overhead storage has the great advantage of distribution without
pumping. However, location of overhead water thanks on flat-roof of buildings
today will be a terrible earthquake hazard because these buildings were not
designed for that kind of oscillating top-load. All these points must be
considered while designing a "Rainwater Harvesting System".
Your sentence "I
would like to hear comments from learned MM if I am doing it wrong" may misguide young
entrepreneurs, who
must develop a responsible way of doing their work.
Responsible behaviour
is mandatory. You have completely overlooked the confession of Mr. Mukul Chandra Mahanta (appended
below) that was posted in the net on August 21, 2006. Mr. Mukul Chandra Mahanta
boasts No Govt. or
anybody helped me to invent my epoch-breaking housing solution. He built and sold
prefabricated buildings at rates-depending on IQ level of
purchaser. We do not know how the selling price of his
building was proportioned to the IQ level of the purchaser,
directly or inversely.
In one such building,
a tie beam snapped, and 1 person
succumbed to injuries 3 days later after debris fell on his
body.
Have you ever seen a
man dying after debris fell on his body?
Consider what happened
here in Boston on July 10, 2006: a concrete tile fell on a car in the
underground tunnel known as Big Dig in Boston. One woman died in that accident. The
Governor of Massachusetts ran to the site. With hard-hat on, the Governor was
personally supervising the closure of the tunnel, repairing of the tile
connections, and so on. The entire Turnpike Authority is now under serious
overhaul. Responsible people will be severely punished. The compensation for the
death is currently tabled as US$1 billion.
You have not expressed
a single word of sorrow for the death of the man under the prefabricated
building of Mr. Mukul Chandra Mahanta where a tie beam
snapped. This tie-beam was
apparently designed by Mr. Mukul Chandra Mahanta who did not take anybodys
help.
Public
Engineering is a very responsible work. Human lives depend upon these.
Designs must be checked and rechecked. Engineers always take each others help,
and consult the points on a regular basis. For Mr. Mukul Chandra Mahanta, others
are dogs: "Hum to Chaley Bazaaro mey, Kuttey Bhukey Hazaaron
sey".
As
for the man who died under the Mahanta Building, I request you to consider that
the Assam-net should open a Trust Fund to help the family of the dead man. Ill
send $100/- as my donation to start this fund --- just please let me know where
I send this amount. I appeal to everyone to come up with similar
donations to help the victim family.
I
request you not to misguide younger engineers by using
oxymorons such as learned
MM.
With the best
wishes,
Himendra
APPENDIX:
CONFESSION OF MR. MUKUL CHANDRA MAHANTA dated August 21,
2006:
< complete report under oath in the net about how many of his
prefabricated buildings collapsed and how many people died or got
injured.>
Gladly : Pakor Liyaa!!
Under Oath-so be it!: "I shall speak the truth, all the truth
and nothing but the truth" .
Let God give wisdom to all halfwits ,nitwits, perjurers and
below-average hypocrites!
- 3 buildings collapsed out of the 32 total built
-all proudly standing . I never Reinforce Concrete with Bamboo. It
cannot work.No Govt. or anybody helped me to invent my epoch-breaking
housing solution. Only as they say "Hum to Chaley Bazaaro mey, Kuttey Bhukey
Hazaaron sey". My IPR can be purchased at reasonable rates-depending on IQ
level of purchaser.
- 1 person succumbed to injuries 3 days
later after debris fell on his body. He was sleeping
below at ground level-when a tie beam snapped at
2nd floor.I was not at that site since 4 month earlier.High court absolved me
and the owner after 3 years.
- Happy Now?
My system is cool pucca Ghar in summer, Warm in Winter,
theoretically 9 times more shock resistant in Earthquakes, needs 25%
labour,25% material ,almost no foundation costs, fully recyclable--THE
future Green housing Technology for the 3rd world!
Don't like it?
Then lump it.

bamboo-reinforcement
Interesting.
If this is delivered drinking
water to your flat, it is rather cheap, I would say. Less than a rupee per
litre.
Here is a business tip to the
local youth in Guwahati.
If you have a plot of
land in Guwahati, all you need to do is dig a deep well and produce free
drinking water. You may need little or no filtration at all. Sell
the produced water to the buildings in the city by a water tanker by
pumping the water to the roof top tanks. (You will be called whenever
the city water supply will fail or there is extra demand of water in parties).
You have unlimited supply of free water. You may not even need a license. You
do the math how much profit you will make.
I would like to
hear comments from learned MM if I am doing it wrong.

For those who
are unfamiliar with algae, it is a plant organism
and needs light
to survive and multiply. Water tanks are usually dark
( at least the
kind I have seen) and thus would not allow algae
growth.
Where is our
resident scientist, Tilok Hatimuria, when we need him most
A little arithmetic is called
for.Say you have a roof area= 100 sq mtr. and annual normal rainfall
=2m.You catch every drop and store.
So to store 200 cu.mtr water in a 2.5 mtr
deep underground tank below your house, you need Rs 5 Lakhs
etra over just the house cost.
You have a 10 member family -need 2 cu mtr
water daily. So your annualHarvest of Stale rainwater goes for 100 days!
And for 265 days you buy-because you did not dig your ring-well for Rs
10,000/-. At Gau today,Bhar water [EMAIL PROTECTED]
20/-. Bhar= 30 litres. Hence you buy water--costing dailyRs
1200/-
So much for today.
