Kyndiah is the man who threw the Assamese out of Shillong(Bhaxa Andwolon time).
Delhi took him onto the Cabinet hoping easy access to all the Uranium in Meghalay.That also has opponents.
But his daughter ,her sons, and kins are more interested in cornering all Central Govt Project contracts in Shillong area. They want all the Medical Electronics needed for the NE IGMHospital+Medical University shaping up in Shillong- imported only by/through the family and not by/through the Ramadoss' (Delhi's Health Minister) family.
Kyndiah is not a great Drafter/thinker.That is what I got when I sat with&talked to him in the plane to Delhi . His ideas of Terrorism , Tribalism, Communism ,Oxom's Sovereignty----are blurred -- stated mildly.

In the following letter to the editor in the AT, why does the writer find Kyndiah's report to be without any value?The writer apparently wants Maoists (same as terrorists to the writer) crushed by force since they kill innocent people. He believes there is a unified plot to establish Maoism in India and it is using the vulnerable sections of people to gain ground. however the writer does not favor Kyndiah or any other government representative looking at the root cause of the problem. Without the government finding the root cause (which is known but needs to be accepted by all), accepting the responsibility and planning a cure, the problem will not go away.I have not read Kyndiah's report but the few sentences quoted in the letter make sense.Dilip==========================================================![The Assam Tribune online]()

The way to tackle Maoistsof tribal unrest" owing to social, political and economic reasons.
Sir, If any further evidence is required of the UPA Government's ineptitude and self-defeating policy with regard to Maoist violence, then Tribal Affairs Minister PR Kyndiah's draft tribal policy is recommended for a cursory reading. Not only does he make light of what Prime Minister Manmohan Singh himself stated just a few weeks ago, that Maoist menace is the most serious internal threat facing the country, Kyndiah goes on to draw a most disingenuous line between tribal and non-tribal Maoists. According to the draft policy - in fact, the prefix of 'draft' would more appropriately describe its content - Maoism is a mere "violent manifestation
It notes that these "disaffected sections" of tribal populace have begun to view the State as their exploiter and enemy, and that they are looking up to the preachers of violent action as their protectors and friends. To be precise, the marginalised tribals picking up guns to kill people may not be entirely responsible for their actions. Kyndiah is entitled to believe what he likes about the Maoist terrorism; however, as a public official, he has no right to thrust his private beliefs on the Government; the people of the country and the brave security forces who, even as Kyndiah reveals his breath-taking ignorance, are fighting and making the supreme sacrifice to defend the peace and stability of the country. Kyndiah needs to be told, that anybody joining the ranks of the Maoists is a terrorist; his ethnic, caste, community or religious identity is subsumed by the fact that he chooses to kill and maim people - which include women and children - without discrimination.
Not since the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil had described the Maoists as "our misguided brothers and sisters", and the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister C Rajasekhara Reddy had lifted the ban on the Maoists, has a member of the ruling dispensation made such a spectacle of his gullibility, which brings us to the more pressing issue: Is there at all any cohesion within the UPA Government over an issue as sensitive as dealing with Maoists ? And are we - considering this Government's penchant for quota politics - soon going to witness the ludicrous, dark comedy of a Dalit Minister holding brief for Dalit Maoists and an OBC leader proffering that the oppressed Yadavs or Kurmis should be seen as Yadav Maoists and Kurmi Maoists? Needless to add, such a purblind policy of the Government - the left hand of which does not seem to have a finger on what the right hand is up to - will only encourage the terror-mongers to whom such classifications have never mattered.Yours etc., Suman Barthakur, Ganeshguri Chariali, Guwahati.
