It shows that due to reciprocity clause in Indian Citizenship Act section 5 -- Sonia was prevented from becoming Indian Prime Minister -which as per the above weblink means that if Italy does not allow foreign borns etc who acquire citizenship thru marriage etc to rule the country (ofcourse they have the King and the Catholic chirch to rule as well -as per its constitution) --then India cannot allow that country's nationals to do the same in India --evenn if they become Indian citizens thru marriage etc.
So can a US born US citizen become Indian PM --since US does not allow a foreign born to become US president.

PROVIDED that in prescribing the conditions and restrictions subject to which persons of any such country may be registered as citizens of India under this clause, the Central Government shall have due regard to the conditions
subject to which citizens of India may, by law or practice of that country, become citizens of that country by registration.
