China has grabbed grazing ground in Tawang district alleged BJP MP

 From Our Spl Correspondent
NEW DELHI, Nov 20 – Arunachal Pradesh MPs have made a common cause with the
agitating Tibetans by alleging that China has annexed considerable part of
their territory. Even before China’s President Hu Jintao could set foot in
India, BJP MP Khiren Rijiju dashed off an angry letter to the Prime Minister
charging that as part of its design, China has grabbed grazing ground in Tawang
district, as also in Takshin belt in Upper Subansiri. The land has been in the
possession of China for over a year now.

He further alleged that China strengthened its position in Samdarangshu Valley,
where the Chinese Army built a helipad.

The MP asked the Prime Minister to immediately accord special status to
Arunachal Pradesh, besides announcing a package for development of the
infrastructure.

Sources in the Home Ministry said that various agencies have been filing
conflicting reports about Chinese occupation of land in Arunachal Pradesh. The
confusion has been compounded by the fact that the Army has stopped patrolling
in these sectors about a year back after Sino-Indian relationship improved.

Meanwhile in a show of solidarity with the Tibetans, the BJP MP addressing a
rally at Jantar Mantar alleged that the Congress Party was not sincere about
Arunachal Pradesh and today Congress Government seemed to surrender the State.

The rally organised by Tibetan Support Group, Himalayan Parivar and Tibetan
Youth Forum was joined by several prominent personalities. Rijiju said India
should strongly tell China that Arunachal Pradesh was an integral part of the
country and there was no question of any negotiation regarding the State.

If there is any negotiation then it has to be on return of Aksai Chin. He said
that China was eyeing Arunachal Pradesh because of its rich biodiversity and
hydel power. The State is the power house of India with the potential to
generate 50 percent of the country’s hydel power requirements.

“If Government of India compromises on Arunachal Pradesh then it will be the
greatest tragedy in the country’s history,” he said.

He also reminded that the people of Arunachal Pradesh and North-east have still
not forgotten Nehru’s words during the Chinese aggression, when he almost gave
away Asom, of which his State was part of.
