Petite Cinema

There's nothing wrong with that buff new James Bond, but
this week some smaller films deserve attention, too. "Four
Eyed Monsters,"  an "innovative chronicle of a truly modern
romance," tells how the filmmakers met and got to know each
other through e-mail exchanges, podcasts and now, a movie,
"in a painful, darkly humorous way." For a starker look at
life, there's  "Highway Courtesans,"  a documentary about
child prostitution in India. Filmed over nine years, it's
"timeless in its observations."
And in  "10 Items or
Less,"  Morgan Freeman is a fading actor and Paz Vega is
the grocery store clerk he befriends. "Its modesty and good
humor," says A. O. Scott, "make it hard to resist."
