Hello Himendrada One of my friend pointed out once that only two nations in the world were made mass addicts of opium by the imperial British- Chinese and Assamese. Chinese have since long came out of the shackles of the 'kaniya' syndrome. We are out not yet!! Coupled with an outdated education, lack of avenues unfortunately still make us 'lahe lahe'; 'hobo diyoks', 'ei moi ako bhabiloo' etc. Eating 'khar' was of course an innovation that time to beat off the scarcity of salt.
I recall the discussions we had at mid night on that day, and happy to tell you: incident that made my resolve stronger. We need a 'khettra' to do anything.
