Thanks for the direction - I've never been to Mirza, Polaxbari either, but know the way...just do not have a close friend or relative to go and visit there.

So, my question is: another engineering college from AEC - just about 12 kms away? I was thinking about the engineering college at Dhemaji - after having the infrastructure built in there of course.

BTW, I wish I had another way to come out of the city, would have been happy if I could take a bus and not having to use the VIP road. :) Another sarcastic note, mm-da? You really can make people laugh, really! :)

When you travel west-leave"VIP"-the airport entrance-on your right and proceed 6Km on the Highway. That is Mirza. Just 2Km north is the river-dugup Polaxbari - no more a centre of Muga weaving!

Is this Santipur, Mirza close to Borzhar airport, like Polaxbari, Mirza?

Foundation of engineering college
By A Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Feb 28 – Noted academic and former Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University Nirmal Choudhury today laid the foundation stone for a new engineering college at Santipur, Mirza.

Promoted by the Northeast Technical Education Society, the college would open in the academic year 2008-2009.

To be spread over a 42-bigha plot of land close to National Highway 37, the college would impart education in several branches including mechanical, electrical and electronics and computer science. It would be manned by faculty with rich experience in the field of technical education.

Chaudhury, while interacting with the promoters of the college expressed his confidence that the new centre of learning would fill a much-needed gap in technical education.

A fully-fledged unit of R&D would be an additional feature of the college. The unit has already started functioning at Guwahati.
