  It says that despite fall in cotton prices in US from $1 to 38 cents farmers 
did not commit suicides becos of subsidy. 
  However if I remember correctly buildings in Wall Street acted as launching 
pads in 1930s at the onset of Great Depression when US stock market crashed. 
They launched people to their deaths - mainly stock brokers who became broke.
