Hi Ramda Thanks for the welcome. It connects me to my people.
Well..UP has always been the CG of India. It's huge and takes about 20 hrs to drive end to end. It's diversity is also amazing. Western UP is rich and eastern is extension of Bihar. But culturally eastern has more to offer. UP is filthy and dirty. Ganga is a dirty nullah. E.g. at dashashwamedha ghat at Varanasi, two huge sewage pipes enacts the fights between heaven and hell. The caste divide is also complete on religious, backward and dalit lines. Thakurs and Brahmins are insignificant players here. People are thronging in thousands to see the 'cheek' of Rahul Gandhi but I doubt if that will get translated into real votes. As you guessed Lucknow is a real Nawabi city. 'Tehzeeb' is dearer than life here. It's kind of strange mix. The Nawabs were Shiite and that reflects in the architecture and general aura around them. Mazars and Sufism has mellowed the orthodoxy here. It's a lovely place for the palate..try out kebabs..those are ummmmmm... more later.. akd --- Ram Sarangapani <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Welcome Amrit.
