There's a rat in the kitchen...
Two weeks from today Toyota's going to issue a denial calling this a
mis-statement by the press. Double counting of production in foreign factories
is how they're getting these numbers. Sales/production are dropping
domestically but globally on the rise - for all J-makers yet consumption in
Japan is on the rise. It just doesn't add up. Toyota needs to come clean before
this becomes unmanageable. And I expect the usual flak for this...

Haha, what did Bob Lutz say at the Detroit Auto Show last year?? When asked how
he felt about Toyota topping GM, he said "It's impossible"
And THAT is the mentality that got Detroit in trouble in the first place. No
government handouts Detroit, you gave your factory jobs to the Mexicans while
Toyota employs thousands of Americans.

There is no everlasting champion.
As the champion(GM) gets older, an unexpected young guy(TOYOTA)takes over.
A couple of decades later, the champion (TOYOTA) will be knock down by another
unexpected younger guy(HYUNDAI).

hyundai makes decent cars, but no way they will ever get to be the biggest. the
era of the automobile will be over long before they can catch up to the US,
Japan, or Europe in terms of automobile manufacturing. If anything, one should
bet on a Chinese car manufacturer emerging. Or GM, Ford, or some merger which
will put a US manufactuer on top.

Well, I am not an advocate of Hyundai nor own one.
I own Lexus.
But when you read some articles that it is the Hyundai that Toyota most worried
about.
No body expected Samsung takes over Sony, right?
