Assamese Army officer killed in J-K

 GUWAHATI, June 5 – Captain Gautom Sarma of 8th Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry, 
who lost his life on June 3 discharging his national duty, was today cremated 
in the Navagraha crematorium with full military honour. His body reached the 
LGBI airport around 4 pm today and was then taken to his residence at Paltan 
Bazar.

Captain Gautam Sarma lost his life fighting with enemies, when he was on area 
domination patrol in the rugged high attitude mountains in Kashmir.

Born on January 2, 1982, Sarma joined Indian Army on December 10, 2004. He was 
also an alumni of Saint Thomas three years training in National Defence 
Academy, Pune and was then commissioned from Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. 

Sarma leaves behind his mother, father and a sister.
