By a Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, June 6: In a bid to usher in an economic revolution to the State, the
Assam Unnati Xabha (AUX) and Nilon’s Enterprises Pvt. Ltd have joined hands so
as to generate self-employment in Asom. Both the organizations have signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today in this regard. Nilon’s Enterprises, a
company promoted by Sanghavi Foods Pvt Ltd, has its office in Dalgaon. It may
be mentioned that the company has already begun papaya cultivation in 175
bighas of land at Namatagaon, Barekuchi in Tinsukia district.
Addressing a press meet here today, AUX general secretary of AUX Samujjal
Bhattacharjya said: “We had approached Sanghavi Foods Pvt. Ltd for cultivation
of fruits and vegetables like papaya, carrot, mango and lime by its members
under the Contract Farming Scheme of the company. The company accepted our
proposal and assured to support the AUX initiatives by providing seeds and
technical guidance.”
However, the extent of procurement on commitment on behalf of Sanghavi will be
subject to the quantity required by the factory for different fruits and
vegetables.
Bhattacharjya said that the cultivators would be responsible for doing all
farming-related works, but not limited to irrigation at proper time, use of
appropriate fertilizers, pesticides etc. “Sanghavi will take fruits and
vegetables in trucks and the cultivator shall be responsible for loading them
in ready-to-use condition,” Bhattacharjya said.
Cultivation in 65 bighas of land at Deomoroni in Darrang district will also
start soon. The AUX has identified 300 bighas of land in Bongaigaon, 75 in
Nalbari and in some areas in Dibrugarh.
The press meet was attended by AUX president Rohini Kumar Gogoi, Nilon’s
Enterprises managing director Deepak Sanghavi, AASU president and general
secretary Sankar Prasad Ray and Tapan Kumar Gogoi respectively.
