Once again, thanks for finding the source of the original singer of Born Free, Umesh. Didn't realize it was Matt Monro. Didn't even hear of his name actually, much less be familiar with his singing.

But I too like his rendition the best.

I am glad we share similar tastes in music. I saw the movie clip on YT but also saw the old Black and White scene of the song sung by Matt Monro long before the movie came out.

But the natural scenary of the clip earlier sent seems more like it.

Cheers.

Umesh,
Yes, there was that movie 'Born Free' based on a true story of Joy and George Adamson and of their raising a lioness "Elsa".

There were a couple of sequels - Live Free, and then Forever Free.

I think that song, Umesh, is the lead song in that movie.

Though, the the movie was a big sensation at that time, there was some controversy later regarding raising lions and other wild life in captivity. Today, the focus it seems is to leave them undisturbed in their habitat, and there are very few exceptions when humans are encouraged to interfere with the natural order of things.

Some of those are in the cases like protection for the bald eagle, or helping a beached whale, and those like the panda from extinction.

Thanks for posting it Umesh. It is one of my all time favorite songs. I am not sure of it, but I think it is Andy Williams who sang it. Back in college, in the sixties, my neighbor at the hostel who had a stereo system and long playing records, gave me an extension with which I put up two cheap speakers in my room. He had this particular 45 RPM record. And the lyrics remain etched in my memory.

BTW, there was a movie, about a lioness cub in Africa, raised in captivity and released into the wild, also from the sixties, named Born Free, and which was wildly popular across the globe. I saw it in Kolkata sometime between, perhaps '65 and '69.
