Quiz tryst for Guwahati
A STAFF REPORTER Guwahati, June 30: Quizmaster Neil O’Brien turned
nostalgic after he and his wife Joyce landed in the city today to conduct an
open quiz show tomorrow.
“I vividly remember my visit to the city in 1987, when I conducted a quiz for
Oxford University Press,” O’Brien said. “I am no stranger to this region.
During my association with the Oxford Press, I visited several parts of the
Northeast, including Guwahati, Shillong and Upper Assam,” he added.
O’Brien, who is considered the founder of quizzing in India, will conduct two
guest rounds at the NEDFi Brain Jam Open Quiz 2007 at Pragjyoti auditorium
tomorrow. His son Barry will conduct the remaining rounds.
The 73-year-old veteran quizmaster will be felicitated for completing 40
years of quizzing this year.
On Monday, Barry will interact with a group of principals of city schools and
share his experience of skill enhancement programmes for school children.
