Just watched the movie yesterday and loved it. You don't even have to like hockey to enjoy this movie.
It tells everything that prevails in India's sporting arena - Associations being run by people who may have never run a few hards in their life, let alone played the game they now rule. - the reality of women's sports in India - where an Indian woman is supposed to just cook at home and produce babies rather than wear shorts and mini skirts and run about in the field. - lack of infrastructure - the Aussie training facilities look like heaven when compared to the run down shacks in India - mass adulation, money for one sport over other ( read Cricket vs hockey ) in India - totally divisive team - Punjabis, South Indians, North Easteners ( or Nepalis as most in Delhi know them as ), Jharkhands, .... and finally beating all odds and forming a world beating team. Not to mention the tension filled matches at the Women's World Championships. Shah Rukh and his team delivers the punch. BTW, the Indian Women Compared to Cricket, India's performance in hockey is OK( lot more countries play hockey than cricket ). The women's hockey team had won the gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Compare that with cricket - 1983..which seems like generations away. Watch this movie to support women in sports in India.
