HRD blacklists AXX?

NEW DELHI/GUWAHATI, Aug 13: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD)
blacklisted the Axom Xahitya Xabha (AXX), along with 30 other NGOs for, what
the Ministry called, non-submission of audited accounts/fund utilization
certificates etc.
Replying to an unstarrted question in the Rajya Sabha today, HRD Minister of
State D Purandeswari said that during the last two years the Ministry had
blacklisted as many as 31 NGOs for their non-existence or non-functioning,
non-submission of audited accounts, fund utilization certificates etc.
Meanwhile, when contacted AXX president Kanaksen Deka said: The Government of
India has not paid a single paisa to the AXX, and as such it has no right to
blacklist the premier literary body of Asom. He, however, said the AXX gets
Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6 lakh annually from the State Government, but for that the
AXX does not need to submit any audited account to the Government.
Deka, however, expressed his ignorance about the Centre blacklisting the AXX.
The other NGOs from the Asom and Nagaland that have been blacklisted by the
Ministry are Urvashi Rashtrabhasa Prachar Vidyalaya, Assam, and Prantiya Kamaj
Kalyan, Kimin, Nagaland.
