Just BTW Korapat is in orissa, not Jharkhand.
The tea tribes of Assam belong not only to Jharkhand, but also Orissa, Andhra
and also Madhya Pradesh. But it seems the present agitation was mostly from
those who have Jharkhandi origin. Year long neglect by Assamese milieu have
resulted in they not being fully assimilated into assamese society and now the
educated amongst them are seeking back their roots and scoundrels like Sibu
Soren are there to dirty the water with alacrity.Incidentally those who
perpetrated the unforgivable ctime against the helpless woman has been
identified and arrested. I wish the press would have also highlighted those who
acted as Good samaritans and there were quite a few.Still there is time to
reach out to them and help them to develop.
The tea community should demand upliftment, not reservation. Reservation would
just help a few educated amongst them to get a handful of jobs under the
reserved category, but would perpetuate their backward ness. Unforetunately the
educated amongst them are raising the issue of reservatuion for their own gains
and using the whole comunity for the purpose.
While it is easy to demand ST status, the process is very cumbersome. It
involves very detailed constitution amendments and there are many people who
are clamouring with similar demand. But who has the time and inclination to
explain the relaities to the unfortunate people who always bear the brunt of
their leader's folly.

$1 per Kg is the price India will pay. Finally after many Indian Profit centers
the same Bad Teas are sold by India with Poetic Labels at $1 per Tea cupbag.
All of half a million Tons! Now GOA and Assamese are being blamed for
"Brutality/Starvation/lack of Basic Human Rights against our Adivasi
Brethern".--------------------------If their LEADERS have other
plans--Jharkhand CM and other Big Guns are milling around here-blaming
everybody around. Tell them to arrange en-masse Homecoming!. Tea can be grown
in Jharkhand too--Rivers are being Linked.+Steel+Uranium+Alumina all around
.And India's 5Th Generation Fighter-Bomber will be built in Koraput.MMS+Putin
just signed deal.
