============================== New on the Site Authenticity over
Exaggeration: The New Rule in Advertising http://hbswk.hbs.edu/item/5812.html
Advertisers thought technology was their friend in identifying and creating
new customers. Funny thing happened along the way, though. Now consumers are
using the Internet to blunt traditional commercial messages. Time for companies
to rethink their strategy, says HBS professor John A. Deighton.

What Do You Think: What Is Management's Role in Innovation?
http://hbswk.hbs.edu/item/5821.html
Online forum OPEN until Tuesday, December 18. It's an open question whether
management, as it is currently practiced, contributes much to creativity and
innovation, says HBS professor Jim Heskett. What changes will allow managers,
particularly in larger organizations, to add value to the creative process?
What do you think?

B2B Branding: Does it Work? http://hbswk.hbs.edu/item/5819.html
Does it make sense for B2B companies to take a cue from consumer companies and
invest in brand awareness? Many B2B CEOs say no, but HBS marketing professor
John Quelch disagrees in his latest blog entry. Join the online discussion.

Working Paper Spotlight Future Lock-in: Or, I'll Agree to Do the Right
Thing...Next Week http://hbswk.hbs.edu/item/5589.html
Most of us believe that we should make certain choices—save more money or
reduce gas consumption, for example—but we do not want to carry out these
choices. Harvard Business School's Todd Rogers and Max H. Bazerman show through
4 experiments that people are more likely to choose what they believe they
should choose when the choice will be implemented in the future rather than in
the present. They also discuss applications for public policy, an arena in
which citizens are often asked to consider binding policies that trade
short-term interests for long-term benefits.
