NE students assaulted by goons in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, Feb 16: A number of students from Arunachal Pradesh, studying in New
Delhi, who had gathered for a programme on Friday evening, were attacked by
local goons from the nearby NDMC market area. In this connection, Arunachal
Pradesh MP Kiren Rijiju urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home
Minister Shivraj Patil to tackle this kind of attacks on the people form the
North-east, especially in Delhi. In his letter, Rijiju said, Local people have
started saying Arunachalees are Chinese and go back to China, and make
other racist comments. I personally went to the sight and met the students. I
also met police officials. This has become a common incident in the capital.
