Hi, http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1716774,00.html movie
I saw a movie yesterday which was a total shift in point of view. It showed 8 different points of view of a single incident - a shooting and bombing of a US president in Spain - in front of a very large crowd gathered in a public square. It gave me new viewpoints as well - which I had never thought before. They showed that the guy who got shot was not the president since the secret service has already anticipated such a threat and thus had placed a double. However, the attackers knew that thats what the secret service would do - so the had planned too. http://www.cera.com/aspx/cda/public1/news/pressReleases/pressReleaseDetails.aspx?CID=8444 peaking in 2017 http://www.evworld.com/news.cfm?newsid=17430 peaking soon It shows how what looks real may not be - even though the entire world may believe in it. In that light it seems that it may be that the world at large may believe that oil is going to last for ever (or till they are dead - 2070 - only the current preschoolers and elementary schoolers would live that long) but on the side nuclear power is being promoted . Top developed nations are already using upto 10-20% of energy thru nuclear power. US wants to sell $100 billion worth of nuclear power plants - just so it can tap the market first. Australia (its cricket team and some officials atleast) are threatening to ban India from receiving uranium from it (it has 40% of world's supply) . One reads news headlines saying "World Oil Caput by 2012" etc. It seems oil is not going to last that long as is made to believe. Those who have nuclear power (and uranium) will call the shots. The movie is also shwoing a shift in western perception. Moviemakers are never fools - some like to make a point as well. By showing Spanish speaking , western named terrorists - they reminded me of the upheaval I had witnessed at Harvard - just about the time I had joined . Then in 2004 celebrated Harvard professor Samuel Huntington (my father's favorite author in recent times [for his book The Clash of Civilizations]) has launched a new book suggesting that the new threat was from the Spanish speaking people in US and around US (who practice the same faith though). I had read the Clash of Civilizations (published 1993) at Jaipur School library reference section - donated by a retired army colonel who taught geography and social studies to students. My father respected him for his honesty and his survival instincts. The Colonel had led his men safely out of of "baint" or cane forests in NE India - cane I was told cannot be cut - extremely tenacious and has long, curved thorns which are as strong as iron. The vines swoop back and thus difficult to strike at. It is almost impossible to come out of such a jungle without losing. The book spoke of clashes not only between various religions but also regional and ethnic groups - and mentioned in passing the Mexican (if I remember correctly) dimension. The 2004 book by Huntington was wholly on the Mexican angle - which led to protests by students and professors. I saw posters on the noticeboards and walls etc and sidewalks. Now given that people's focus seems to shifting back to Spanish speaking nations (inlcuding Latin America perhaps) rather than Middle East (Arab nations) it seems that Middle Eastern oil might be running out sooner than expected. The developed nations would then be in a position to dictate energy/power just like Middle East and other oil producing countries do so since 1973 oil crisis. It would hen make sense for Uranium rich Australia to act like a power source - as it has been doing with many Indian cricketers etc and ... Any comments?
