JD Institute of fashion technology inaugurated

DIBRUGARH, March 8: A center of the JD Institute of Fashion Technology is being 
opened at Dibrugarh and will start functioning from April this year. 
In a press meet held here yesterday evening, the Director of the Dibrugarh 
centre, Deepak Jain, talked in details the achievements of the institute and 
the various courses which will be offered here. He said that fashion designing 
and interior designing would be offered initially at Dibrugarh. There were 
plans to increase the number of courses offered in future once the centre 
received the desirable response, Jain added. 
  
The managing director and the executive director of the Guwahati branch of the 
institute, NC Dey and RC Dalal respectively, were also present in the meet. 
They said that pursuing a course at the institute would cost 32 to 35 thousand 
rupees per year and students who have done their higher secondary in any of the 
streams were eligible for it. 
  
The directors further said that the aim of opening the centre at Dibrugarh was 
to tap the talents of the region besides providing them with alternative career 
options. They also expressed hope that the institute would be able to 
contribute towards the promotion of the fabrics of the North-east.
