Maybe one thing can be done. Let there be a body of the eminent persons of assam who will rename all the buildings and roads etc after noted Assamese persons. The experienced and worthy among the assamnetters can invite persons they think fit to be a part of this body. The only glitch is that this will be a defiance to the government namakaran of our building, roads etc., Let this body suggest assamese names in defiance to the governments tactics. Then this can be publicized through the newspapers, media . The people of assam can adopt the name suggested by this body or they can go for the one the government imposed. Let this be decided by the public, if they want government imposed names or love their own history. The government can impose the name on paper but if the public thinks it fit to call it by another name, the government cannot restrain anyone from doing it. As soon as the government names something, a local version should go in a press release stating the assamese version alongwith an appeal to people to adopt the local version. Maybe this would help. Further, the existing ones also maybe renamed by this body of eminent persons. Regards,
