Bideshat Apon Manuh is one Assamese television serial that takes one across the
seas to introduce the sons of the soil settled abroad, earning a name for
themselves there while glorifying Assam and its unique heritage and tradition
in an alien land. The effort of this one of a kind serial is all the more
praiseworthy because people also get to visit different destinations without
leaving the cosy comforts of their living room or bedroom.
Its good news that this popular serial, telecast every Sunday at 7:30 pm, has
got an extension for yet another 26 episodes. Bideshat Apon Manuh (Dwitiya) is
already on air with its telecast commencing on May 18 at the same time slot.
The May 18 episode featured the family of Niranjan Brahma and Moushumi Brahma
of Delaware, USA. Moushumi Brahma and her young daughters are accomplished Bihu
dancers and they have popularised Bihu by participating in various community
gatherings in the United States.
The serial crew for its second avatar travelled to countries like Austria,
Germany, Norway, Switzerland, etc to meet the prominent Assamese people staying
in those places. Later, it covered the United States, starting with Houston
the seat of the space centre NASA.
After Houston, the Bideshat Apon Manuh team went to Pennsylvania, New Jersey,
Washington DC, Chicago and Indianapolis, where they met and interviewed many
Assamese NRIs. In the episode on New Jersey, nutrition specialist and
entrepreneur Nripen Barua and diamond merchant Biraj Bhuyan will be featured.
The team also interviewed Sandy Baruah, the Economic Advisor to US President
George W Bushs administration in Washington DC, along with Siddharth
Choudhury, Partha Gogoi, Satyen Das and other accomplished Assamese NRIs. The
serial will also feature eminent professor of history in the University of
Chicago, Prasenjit Duarah, dean of Kellogg School of Management Dipak Jain,
Bitosh Sinha, Bhaskar Das, neuro-surgeon Dr Gautam Phookan and psychiatrist
Ajanta Phukan of Indianapolis, among others.
The serial Bideshat Apon Manuh (Dwitiya) has been directed and hosted by
Bobbeeta Sharma and is produced by Chinmoy Sharma. Jeemoni Choudhury has
written the script. The camera work is by Manas Adhikari, Sharad Verma and
Ravindra Badgaiyan, while the editing has been done by Rinku and Mohan Pegu.
The serial has music by Manas Hazarika and the title song has been sung by Saju.
