Respected Chandan da

We are fine here by the grace of God. Completed 3 years at Jorhat. Your visit
is
still due.

Coming to the article, I am happy to learn that you have agreed to some extent
with my views.

You are absolutely right that there is an incongruity between the title of the
article and its contents. Actually the idea of writing this article suddenly
came to my mind while watching Dr Samujjal Bhatta on TV talking about the
magnanimity of the Assamese, the need for having dominance of indigeneous
people
in Assam and the future course of action to ensure that. I agree with first two
points and disagree with the means to ensure that.  I wrote the article with
the
title "Oxomiyar Mohanubhobota, Khilonjiyar Ostittya aru Dr Samujjal Bhatta".
But
they have changed the title. Of course they did not edit anything in the main
body of the article. That is why probably an avoidable confusion cropped up.

My point are simple and to the point.

1. Our energy and efforts should be channelised for preventing further
immigration.

2. The need for constitutional safeguard and seat reservation for the
indigenous
population. The percentage of reservation can be worked out realistically
involving all communities, tribes etc.

3. Let us get inspired by our emotions initially, but not get swayed by it
completely.

Bye for now.

Mayur Bora
Jorhat

Hello Mayur,

Good to hear from you. How are you and the family doing? Hope Jorhat has been
good to you all.

I read your article. I agree with some of your commentary. They are thoughtful
and insightful.

I am however not sure if you really tried hard enough to gauge WHY this issue
not only does not
get resolved ( which of course is impossible, if world history and recent ones
at that is any guide), it does

not even get a rudimentary bit of SINCERE attention that it deserves.

Where I disagree completely is your conclusion, attested to by the title of the
article, that it is the

"Oxomiyar Mohanubhobota', where Mohanubhobota ( noble and humane attitudes) all
of a sudden is something

to be derided and denied, that is at the root of the inaction on alleviating
the
problem if not eradicating it.

On that front I think you have done our people a disservice, by
A: Pointing to a FALSE cause
B: Attacking what should be promoted and always held in high esteem, that is
traits like Mohanubhobota

( noble and humane attitudes).

But instead, IF you had taken a no-holds-barred, no-sacred-cows look at the
issues to point out WHERE the

problems lie, then you would have provided an immense service.  I like to think
you are eminently able
to do that. And I will look forward to a follow-up editorial, where you will
tackle the REAL stumbling blocks
which have PREVENTED any  attainable, effective, and sustainable measure from
being in implemented.
