Petro-tech institute in Sivasagar

 DELHI, Aug 28 – The process of setting up Assam Centre Campus of the 
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) has gathered 
momentum, with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) 
depositing Rs 61 lakh for acquisition of land in Sivasagar.The
 Ministry has reported to the Parliamentary Standing Committee that the 
Government of Assam has approved allocation of land last December and 
according to the direction of the local authorities funds have been 
deposited in treasury in Sivasagar district. The process of taking 
possession of the land is in progress, it was further stated.A
 project feasibility report has been prepared by EdCIL India Limited, a 
public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Human Resources 
Development (HRD) and finalised last August. The MoPNG has decided about
 funding of the Assam Centre Campus last October. The
 RGIPT is in early stage of its academic activity and pursuing 
programmes from temporary campus in hired premises in Rai Barelly and 
Noida. RGIPT is currently conducting two BTech, a MTech and a MBA 
programmes.
