EMFA Awards announced

Guwahati: The Electronic Media Forum Assam has announced three yearly awards to
encourage the journalists, associated with the news channels, for their
continued endeavour to reveal the truth through visual journalism. The three
awards include best story of the year, best story on development issues and
best
story on environment issues of the region.
The decision was finalised in a meeting of EMFA held in  Guwahati Press Club on
Sunday (December 19, 2010).  The awards will be delivered during a function in
Guwahati scheduled in the first half of January, 2010.

The forum has also decided to pursue with the government and respective
managements of the channels for ensuring both physical security and
professional
security. It argues that journalists associated with the news channels are more
exposed and hence they are more vulnerable for attacks from different
anti-social elements.

Meanwhile, the meeting has unanimously formed an executive committee, where
three representatives from each channel and one from national channels would
function as Executive Members, with Nava Thakuria (NewsTime Assam) as
President,
Bimal Ghosh (RD, NewsX) as Secretary and Bhaskar Jyoti Bhuyan (NewsLive) as the
Treasurer.
