*** Now isn't that a lovely call :-)? Unfortunately there are some tricky
issues involved in the process.
When one is unaware of those issues, it is unlikely PKM will be a beekeeper
producing any honey.

*** Speaking of bees, I have been doing some serious reading , finally, on the
intricacies of bee-keeping, bee behavior,
etc. It is a fantastic world out there, and so much to learn. So far my two
hives seem to be doing OK. Yesterday the weather turned
a tad warmer, to about 40 deg F ( 4.4 deg C), and I saw a few bees getting out
of their hives to go bathroom. It is yet another
danger for bees in cold winter environments, not being able to go out to go
move their bowels for extended periods of time
( they don't like to soil their hives by going inside). If that happens their
intestines get all compacted with excreta and liable
to die.

*** Just finished reading a book on some amazing new discoveries about bees,
written by Thomas D. Seeley, a Cornell U. prof., called
Honey-bee Democracy. The book is touted to become a classic. If people could
learn to behave like bees, we would have a far superior
civilization.
