Established in 2002, Tathagata Trust is an Non-Profit Organization dedicated to developing a sustainable model community in an area handicapped by lack of economic growth, poor infrastructure, and substandard lower school facilities. Located in North Lakhimpur, Assam (N. E. India) and initiated by local leadership, parents and supporters from diverse backgrounds, have united to form a trust informed by positive ideals aimed to improve the quality of life for all. Toward that end, the trust has established a pilot elementary school called Siddhartha Kendra Vidyalaya that is currently housed in one all weather building with a student population of 80 children and five teachers.
