Dear all, The Assam Assembly Election 2011 has been declared due in Apr just before the Assamese Bihu festival.
This major festival brings out the cultural activities and also acts as the biggest social bonding factor. People look forward to it with so much expectation. I wonder whether it is a good idea to stage elections immediately before the Bihu festival as there could be political violence usually preceding elections in India these days.
