Many Assamese professionals staying in various parts of the world, want to be connected to their alma-mater from wherever they are in some form or the other. This platform, 'Snehbondhon', will provide them with ideas on how to give back to their schools/colleges in any from within their limited capabilities. Our teachers play a major role in molding us and giving a shape to our knowledge, personality and outlook towards life. However, as we grow old, we tend to loose connect with our school and our teachers. Snehbondhon will reassure the schools/Collegs and the teachers that past students have not forgotten them and will reconnect the school/college with the past students. Snehbondhon will help past students of various schools/Colleges across the state to give back to their schools/Colleges whatever they can within their capacity. Primarily, Snehbondhon envisages that the past students should buy books and magazines for the school/college library. As most past students who would like to give back would have made a good career for themselves, they would have a better idea as to which books and magazines should be read by the students of their schools at this time of their student career. Snehbondhon would help past students to subscribe for magazines, buy books for school/college library and also would facilitate past and current student interaction in the schools/colleges. With the advent of Internet based subscriptions for books and magazines, any past student sitting in any corner of the world would be able to subscribe for a book or a magazine for his school/college library sitting anywhere, by the clicking of his/her mouse. The initiative was first started from St. Francis de Sales School in Dhemaji on 26th March, 2011. A few past students from this school had a counselling session with 'Snehbondhon' members and decided to implement the same as soon as possible. Dhrubajyoti Baruah (Madrid, Spain), Bibhash Hazarika (Bangalore), Himadri Borah (New Delhi), Satyakam Dutta (Shillong) and a few others have started to contribute in the form of subscription of a few Magazines towards the school library. Father George, Principal, St. Francis de Sales School, Dhemaji, expressed satisfaction about the initiative taken by the past students and said that he was very happy to be the first school in the state to be a part of this initiative. He also asked the past students group to try to help and motivate others to replicate the same in other schools.
